Hambledon Classic Cuvee Rose wins Gold at the Prestigious International Wine Awards!

The team here is in a particularly good mood this morning, because we’ve just found out that our first ever Rose; the Classic Cuvee Rose has just won Gold at the International Wine Challenge. This was the only gold in the world won by a sparkling rose!
Our Classic Cuvee Rose has only been released during the last couple of months, although you may have been lucky enough to try a glass at one of the Smoked and Uncut Festivals hosted by the PIG hotels this summer.
We’re so proud of our vineyard team, who have worked tirelessly over the last few years in order to ensure that our produce is always of the highest quality possible.  We’re so grateful to our winemaking team, Felix, Herve and Ian, for being such perfectionists and having such an inspired vision for all our wines.
The Rose is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir (red wine), as ever, grown exclusively on our private estate based on the chalky, southern facing slopes of the South Downs in Hampshire. Grapes form the 2014 harvest were preselected during harvest, and then went through a second selection in the winery to ensure that only the most mature grapes were used. This resulted in a lower yield than was possible, but we were happy to sacrifice volume in order to maximise quality!
The result is a beautiful, vivid wild-strawberry pink colour wine. The nose is firstly magnolia blossom, followed by a perfume of wild strawberries with more subtle hints of buttered white sourdough toast. The palate is a rich and mouth-filling balance of strawberry with zingy, tart cranberry and pithy Amfali lemon notes, a creamy texture with a clean, crisp, yeasty finish. Well that’s what we think, but come along and try some for yourself. We’re sure that you’ll agree that it’s delicious!
Our Rose is available to buy either online, in our shop, or from your local Hambledon wine stockist! It comes in a classy gift box, designed to block out the light so that the UV rays don’t affect the taste of the wine. Pop up to the vineyard to stock up on Christmas bubbles before we’re out of stock!
